Field Hockey Ends Historic Season at Seahawks in Semifinals

The #3-seed Lancaster Bible College Field Hockey team saw their record-breaking 2026 season come to a close on Saturday afternoon in the United East Semifinals, falling to #2-seed St. Mary's (Md.) by a score of 5-1. The Chargers end their season at 6-10 overall with a Final Four berth while the Seahawks improve to 10-7 overall and will take on #1-seed Penn St. Harrisburg next Saturday for the United East Championship.

How it Happened:
The Seahawks drew the first penalty corner of the game about five minutes in a fired a shot on goal, but Amelia Huey (Gr.) made an early save. Several minutes later, St. Mary's (Md.) was assigned a green card, but came down and scored a woman down in the ninth minute to take the lead at home. Huey made another save for LBC as they trailed 1-0 after one quarter.

The Seahawks had a corner and three more shots in the first half of quarter two but could not score, then with three minutes to go in the half, Gracie Hoffman (So.) placed the Chargers' first shot on goal as a defensive save was made for St. Mary's (Md.). The Chargers then drew a penalty corner and broke through for a score as Rebekah Hoover (So.) knocked in a goal off an assist from Bailey Simmons (So.), their second connection of the playoffs as the Chargers tied the score at 1-1 heading into halftime.

The Chargers fell behind about six minutes into the second half as the Seahawks got another score to retake the lead at 2-1, but Huey made three more saves as the third quarter went on to keep the Chargers in the game as the fourth quarter began with LBC down one.

The fourth quarter began in a great way for the Chargers as they fended off several Seahawk attacks including three Huey saves with three more shots blocked. However, a green card on the Chargers in the 52nd minute proved disastrous as St. Mary's (Md.) scored twice in a 30-second span to blow the game open at 4-1. The Seahawks added another a few minutes later to lead by four, then as Riley Danko (Sr.) had a late shot, the deficit was too much as the Seahawks finished off LBC and sent them home to end their playoff run in the Semifinals.
