The Lancaster Bible College Men's Volleyball team returned home on Saturday morning to host (RV) Randolph-Macon in the Horst Athletic Center, racing to an impressive 3-0 sweep. The Chargers improve to 6-7 overall while the Yellow Jackets drop to 9-2 overall and 1-0 in the ODAC.
How it Happened:
Kevin Bryant (Jr.) started the Chargers with two of their first three kills for a 3-1 lead, then the Yellow Jackets used a four-point run to swing ahead 8-6. The Chargers responded later in the set with a four-point run of their own, featuring three kills by
Braden Escover (Fr.) as they took a 13-10 lead.
Carson Hoover (Jr.) landed two kills and
Zeke Clark (Jr.) threw down a solo block for the Chargers' largest lead of the set at six, holding on by that score to take set one 25-19.
The Chargers led in the same way early in set two at 3-1 and 6-3 as Escover and Bryant landed kills, then Bryant and
Timothy Fletcher (So.) combined on a block for a 13-10 advantage once again. The Yellow Jackets later had a block to tie the set at 16, then another block to help swing them ahead by one point, but a kill from Escover then sparked a 5-1 LBC run to go back up by three. The Chargers closed strong as Hoover delivered a loud kill to seal set two for LBC 25-22.
Randolph-Macon began set three with the lead as they got out to an 8-4 start as Bryant landed two early kills, then the Chargers scored three in a row to pull within one. The Yellow Jackets maintained a steady lead before Fletcher landed a solo block to make it 13-12 R-MC, then the Chargers scored five straight as they forced two Yellow Jacket timeouts with an ace from Fletcher to power the surge ahead 17-14. A few errors helped LBC go up five points, then Bryant closed the door with a block and a kill to secure the 25-20 set win and a 3-0 home sweep of the Yellow Jackets.
