The Lancaster Bible baseball team were back in action at the Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach, SC, after yesterday's cancellation. The Chargers took on the Titans of Westminster (Pa.) in a nine-inning game. The Charger's eight runs were not enough as they fell to the Titans 14-8.
How It Happened:
The Titans wasted no time as a walk followed by two doubles scored them two runs in the top of the first. The Chargers looked to respond in the bottom of the inning with a sacrifice fly by
Evan Sareyka would score
Dylan Witkowski would put the score at 2-1 at the end of the first. Each team would add one in the second inning, with
Joey Stein scoring off a fielder's choice for Lancaster Bible. A two-run home run by Westminster would push the lead to three in the top of the third. The Chargers continued to rally and tie the game at 5-5 after a three-run bottom of the third.
The game would take a turn in the top of the fourth as Westminster would put up six runs, followed by three innings of one run to push the lead to 14-5 after the top of the seventh. Two scoreless innings by the Titans would keep the score there. Lancaster Bible would make one final push in the bottom of the ninth, with a three-run homer by
Donavan Boles. It was not enough to mount the nine-point deficit as the score would finish 14-8.
By the Numbers:
- The Chargers would score eight runs on eight hits and two error by the Titans
- The Titans would score 14 runs on 17 hits
- Joey Stein would lead the Chargers going 2-4 and one RBI
