The Lancaster Bible College Baseball team began United East play on Saturday afternoon, earning a double-header sweep over Cairn as they won 22-12 and 9-5. The Chargers improve to 6-4 overall and 2-0 in conference while the Highlanders fall to 0-11 overall and 0-2 in conference.

How it Happened:
After a scoreless first and three early runs by Cairn in the bottom frame, the Chargers surged ahead in the top of the 2nd, starting with a fielder's choice that scored
Malachi Sloane (Jr.) to get LBC on the board. Then, the lead became the Chargers' as
Dylan Witkowski (Sr.) launched a grand slam to clear the bases for four RBI and put LBC ahead 5-3 in a big way. After a good defensive 3rd inning, the Chargers added on in the 4th, starting with a RBI-single by
Tanner Smith (Sr.) for a three-run lead. Then,
Shane Stephan (Jr.) drove in a run on a single, followed by a RBI-single by
Nate Rosenzweig (Jr.) three batters later to extend the LBC lead to 8-3. The Highlanders matched that with three more in bottom frame, but the Chargers got them right back as Smith raked a three-run home run to make it 11-6 Chargers. Cairn got another in the 5th, but the 7th inning was where the Chargers broke it open, scoring six runs with RBI-hits by
CJ Peterson (So.), Witkowski, and Stephan to lead 17-7. Cairn added five more runs in the next two innings, but a big 8th inning for the Chargers saw five more runs come across the plate as they closed it out in the bottom frame to win by 10 runs to open United East play.

- The Chargers scored a season-high 22 runs on 13 hits and 21 RBI with three errors while the Highlanders had 12 runs on 16 hits with 12 RBI and committed two errors

How it Happened:
Dylan Witkowski led off the game with a solo home run on the second pitch of the game, giving LBC the lead right away. Cairn got even with a run in the bottom frame, then LBC went back ahead 2-1 as
CJ Peterson scored on an error. The Highlanders, however, swung in front in the bottom of the 2nd as a pair of Charger errors led to two Cairn runs to put them up 3-2. Cairn added to their lead with another run in the 3rd, but the Chargers picked it up in the top of the 4th inning as Peterson launched a triple to right center, scoring
Joey Stein (So.) before Peterson scored on another error to tie the game up at 4-4. The defense then came up with a 1-2-3 stop, then the Chargers took the lead on a solo home run by
Evan Sareyka (Sr.) as they led 5-4, but Cairn answered right back to tie the game again. Then in the top of the 6th,
Shane Stephan hit a sacrifice fly to score Witkowski, giving LBC the 6-5 advantage that would prove to be enough. Lancaster Bible accented their lead with three more runs in the 7th inning as
Gabe Reif (Fr.) hit a two-run triple to left center, then Witkowski added a double to drive Reif in as the Chargers held on to win 9-5 and sweep the Highlanders to open conference action.

Information to Know:
The Chargers improve to 17-11 all-time against Cairn since 2009, ending a seven-game skid against the Highlanders. The Chargers won their United East opener for the first time since 2024 and improve to 2-0 in conference for the first time since 2024 as well. This was the Chargers' highest run total (22) in a game since February 28 of last season against Penn College where they won 22-10 and their second game this season scoring 10+ runs.
