How it Happened:
Maddison Atkins (Sr.) started the game with a pair of strikeouts in the 1st inning, then the Chargers struck first in Myrtle Beach as Ava Stern (Fr.) knocked a RBI-double to left field, scoring Kendall Jackman (Fr.) for a 1-0 lead. The Mariners answered with one run in the next frame, then the Chargers answered right back in the 2nd inning as Rebekah Hoover (Fr.) hit a pop-up single on the right side to score Grace Goodman (So.), then Jackman came around to score on the play for a 3-1 LBC lead. Atkins picked up four more strikeouts over the next two innings on defense, then the Chargers extended their lead in the bottom of the 4th as Stern connected on another base hit, doubling to left center to clear the bases and put LBC up 6-1. The Chargers' defense closed strong with three straight 1-2-3 frames, sealing their first victory of the season down at the shore.
