The Lancaster Bible College Men's Tennis team squared off against the Lions of Penn St. Brandywine on Saturday afternoon cruising to a 7-0 victory. The Chargers were also able to celebrate four senior student-athletes:
Patrick Grootboom,
Dan Marcroft, Hemberth Pena, and
Cameron Tripp. The Chargers are now 2-9 overall and 2-5 in conference play while the Lions drop to 0-12 overall and 0-7 in conference play.
Lancaster Bible set the tone early with a commanding performance in doubles play, sweeping all three matches. The pairing of
Cole Stoltzfus and Cole Sheihing led the way with a 6-1 win at No. 1 doubles, while
Nas Joy and
Jon Breinich matched that score at No. 2.
Cameron Tripp and Hemberth Pena completed the doubles sweep with another 6-1 victory, giving the Chargers full control heading into singles competition.
The Chargers continued their dominance in singles, winning all six flights to complete the shutout.
Cole Stoltzfus secured a strong 7-5, 7-5 win at No. 1 singles, while Cole Sheihing and
Nas Joy each delivered decisive 6-1, 6-1 and 6-0, 6-0 victories at No. 2 and No. 3. Hemberth Pena added another straight-set win at No. 4, and
Dan Marcroft controlled his No. 6 singles match with a 6-1, 6-0 result. The most competitive match came at No. 5 singles, where
Patrick Grootboom battled through three sets and a super tiebreak to secure the win and seal the 7-0 victory for Lancaster Bible.
