Atkins Makes Program History at Wilson

The Lancaster Bible softball team head to conference opponent Wilson on Tuesday, April 21st. The Chargers would win game one but drop game two, to split with the Phoenix. The Chargers will improve to 18-11 on the year including 11-3 in conference, as the Chargers continuing to add onto the most single season wins in program history.

Game One: 11-7 WIN

How it Happened:
The Chargers would open the scoring in the top of the third, after a quiet first two innings. Ava Stern singled to right, which scored Carleigh Cleland who had reached earlier in the inning with a double. The Chargers continued the scoring in the fourth as an Ila Rowatti sacrifice fly scored another run. Keira Price would come around to score as Cleland singled up the middle. Cleland eventually came around to score on a wild pitch as the Chargers went up 4-0. The Phoenix would steal one run back in the bottom of the fourth, but the Chargers kept running. The top of the fifth started with a Rebekah Hoover homer to center field. Ila Rowati picked up her second RBI of the day as well, as a single would score Price. This would not be the end as a KariAnn Mecke RBI double and Price home run added two more runs in the top of the sixth inning. They would go onto add two more runs to their lead, as the Chargers won 11-7.

By the Numbers:

  • The Charges scored eleven runs on sixteen hits with three errors
  • The Phoenix scored seven runs on thirteen hits with three errors
  • Maddison Atkins improves to 11-5 with three strikeouts as she set the program record for most wins in a single season
  • Keira Price led the Chargers going 3-4 with a HR and 2 RBIs
  • Rebekah Hoover added 1 HR and 2 RBIs on 2-5
  • Carleigh Cleland went 4-4 adding 1 RBI
Game Two: 5-6 LOSS

How it Happened: 
Lancaster Bible opened up the scoring early as a Rebekah Hoover single scored Kendall Jackman. Wilson answered with a run of their own in the bottom of the third inning. Carleigh Cleland added one run in the top of the fourth with an RBI single. Ava Stern added another run in the top of the fifth with a solo home run to left field. Keira Price added two final runs with a two run home run in the top of the sixth, giving the Chargers a 5-1 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh inning. However, a five hit, one error inning would lead to five runs for the Phoenix as the Chargers went on to lose 5-6.

By the Numbers:
  • The Chargers scored five runs off ten hits with two errors
  • The Phoenix scored six runs off eleven hits with zero errors
  • Ava Stern fell to 7-6 with a 2-strikeout game while going 1-4 with a HR
  • Keira Price led the Chargers in hitting going 2-3 with 2 RBIs and a HR
  • Carleigh Cleland added 3-3 and 1 RBI
