The #4-seed Lancaster Bible College Softball team hosted their first-ever home playoff games in program history on Friday afternoon as they took on #5-seed Penn St. Harrisburg in the United East Second Round, falling twice by scores of 10-1 and 8-4. The Chargers end their season at 20-13 overall while the Lions improve to 24-12 overall and advance to the United East Championship Final Four next weekend.

How it Happened:
The LBC escaped a jam in the 1st inning before
Kendall Jackman (Fr.) hit a leadoff double in the bottom frame, but the Chargers could not score. The Lions exploded onto the board with five runs in the 3rd inning as LBC committed two errors in the frame, but a triple by Jackman in the 3rd scored
Grace Goodman (So.) to get the Chargers on the board. Penn St. Harrisburg, however, put together another huge inning in the 4th as 11 batters came to the plate with five more runs to go up 10-1. The Chargers had two more hits as
Maddison Atkins (Sr.) and Jackman connected on singles, but the Lions would win in five innings by the same score to take game one.

The Lions scored first once again as an error led to two runs in the 1st inning, but the Chargers hit right back in the 1st as
Keira Price (So.) hit a two-RBI double to right center to tie the game up at 2-2. Harrisburg retook the lead in the 3rd on a home run, then added three more in the 4th on three hits for a 6-2 lead. The Chargers rallied in the bottom of the 4th without a single hit, drawing four total walks as
Grace Goodman and
Kendall Jackman each collected RBI on their free bases to cut the deficit in half at 6-4. The Lions got themselves some insurance in the 7th with two more runs, then after hits in the bottom by
Maddison Atkins and
Carleigh Cleland (Jr.), the Lions shut the door on LBC to take the series and end the Chargers' season.

This was the Chargers' first-ever official playoff appearance in the United East postseason, playing in a divisional play-in game in 2024 before today's Second Round home series. The Chargers' season comes to a close after today's games, having a historic regular season as they broke a program record with 20 total victories, their first 20-win season in program history. The Chargers also won a record 13 conference games this season, finishing with their best conference win percentage (.812) in history and clinching their first-ever winning season as a program at 20-13 overall. Maddison Atkins won a program-best 12 games in the circle in 2026, finishing at 12-6 for the season in 21 appearances with 16 complete games and four shutouts. The careers of three Charger players ended today, including
Maddison Atkins,
Amanda Hoover, and
Amelia Huey. Atkins had 61 total hits in a Charger uniform with 51 RBI and 11 doubles, all ranking in the top-20 in program history. She also ranks fourth all-time in hit-by-pitch with nine and fourth in triples with eight. In the circle, Maddison has the sixth-most innings pitched (223) in program history, ranking third in wins with 19 and third in strikeouts with 140. Combining her two years at Clarks Summit, Atkins has racked up 335 total strikeouts and ranks in the top-five in all of NCAA Division III in innings pitched among active players. Hoover finishes her career with 41 total hits and 28 runs scored, with six doubles, three triples, and 19 walks in her four seasons. Huey had 18 hits and 18 runs scored with four doubles in her four seasons with the Chargers.
