The Lancaster Bible College Women's Volleyball team hit the road for a non-conference matchup with Wilkes in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., falling 3-0 after three close sets. The Chargers drop to 1-3 overall while the Colonels stay unbeaten as they move to 6-0 overall.
How it Happened:
Lea Sareyka (Sr.) got the Chargers started with a kill on the opening point, but the Colonels took control early as they went on an eight-point run to take a big lead and force an early LBC timeout. A kill from
Jessica Fletcher (Sr.) started a three-point run for the Chargers later on, then
Samantha Hey (So.) had a pair of kills to help LBC get back within three at 14-11. The lead was cut to two as Fletcher had a kill and a block, then
Kaitlyn Weitzel (Jr.) had a service ace and
Chloe Belford landed a solo block to tie the set at 18-18. Wilkes then pulled away as they won seven of the next 10 points to take the first set 25-21.
Wilkes took an early 4-2 lead in the second set before an ace by Fletcher tied it up at four apiece. Staying even, the Chargers took a two-point lead as
Tessa Kwiatkowski (Sr.) landed back-to-back aces, forcing a Wilkes timeout at 8-6. The Colonels then swung ahead by a few and maintained their lead throughout the middle of the match, then a four-point run extended their lead to 19-14. The Chargers powered back into the set after a kill by Hey, then used a four-point run with two kills from Fletcher to take back the lead at 23-22 late. The Colonels, however, rattled off three in a row including an ace to finish off a 25-23 set win.
The third set stayed close early on as Weitzel landed an ace to tie it at 6-6, then two kills and a block from
Ashby Brummer (So.) helped the Chargers take a two-point lead. Sareyka landed a kill later on to build the LBC lead to three, but the Colonels fought back and tied the score on eight straight exchanges as the set became more intense. The Chargers broke the pattern and took a 22-20 lead, but Wilkes went on a tear late to win the final five points and steal a 25-22 set win and a 3-0 home sweep over LBC.

Information to Know:
The Chargers are now 8-2 all-time against Wilkes and see a six-game winning streak against the Colonels snapped tonight. The Chargers' 1-3 record is their lowest through four games since 2022 when they began 0-5 overall and they have already matched their season total from 2025 in 3-0 losses (3).
Lea Sareyka took the leap into the program's top-five all-time in career kills tonight, passing Chloe King (2019-23) to move into 5th place in LBC history with 759 career kills.
Jessica Fletcher also moved up the all-time kills list, entering the program's top-10 as she passed both Lauren (Donato) Daniels (2011-12) and Myranda Kemrer (2014-17) to move into 10th all-time with 656 kills.
