The Lancaster Bible College Men's Soccer team played their second home game in three days on Wednesday night as they took on Albright, falling by a score of 2-0 on Donald H. Funk Field. The Chargers drop to 1-5 overall while the Lions improve to 2-2-1 overall.
Â
How it Happened:
The Lions earned two corner kicks in the first five minutes with the defense holding strong, then later on
Michael Straubel (Fr.) fired a shot on goal that was saved. The Lions flipped the field quick, using a corner set-piece to find the back of the net off a deflection to score the opening goal in the 15th minute. A few minutes later,
Riley Bills (Fr.) had a chance on goal that got saved, then had another shot that narrowly missed. The teams traded possession for the rest of the half, with Albright holding a slim lead at the break.
Â
About ten minutes into the second half,
Micah Dressler made a save off a deep shot, then
Andre Ramos (Fr.) had a shot off a close free kick that dribbled out wide. On a Chargers corner kick, Bills had another shot saved low by the keeper. With about 15 minutes to play, LBC earned another corner but could not score, then Straubel fired a screamer from outside the box that was batted away by the Lions' Mike Lawry to keep LBC off the board, but the subsequent corner for the Chargers turned into a break for Albright, racing down the field and connecting on another score to extend the lead with seven minutes remaining.
Silas Dellaperute (Jr.) had a late attempt on goal that missed on the near side, then the Lions worked the clock to close out the road shutout win.
