The Lancaster Bible College Men's Soccer team traveled to St. Davids, Pa. for their final non-conference game of the season as they took on Eastern, earning a 1-1 draw on the road. The Chargers move to 3-6-1 overall and 1-0 in the United East while the Eagles move to 4-1-3 overall.
How it Happened:
The Chargers had two shots and a corner kick in the first ten minutes with early momentum, then the Eagles had a shot right after that was blocked. Eastern then had a throw-in, but the Chargers flipped the field quickly as
Silas Dellaperute (Jr.) served the ball into the box on a line to
Riley Bills (Fr.), redirecting the ball into the net as he secured the opening score of the game for an early Chargers lead. The teams traded possession for the next ten minutes before
Jeremy Lee (Fr.) put a shot on goal that was saved, then
Jacob Garrett (Fr.) had a shot blocked that led to a LBC corner. The Chargers had several free kicks as the half progressed, but the Eagles went on a surge of four shots in a five-minute span, with
Chris Jackson (Sr.) making one save as the Chargers flipped it for two shots of their own before halftime came.
A shot by Eastern in the first ten seconds missed high, then Dellaperute had a shot that also missed high as each team had an early chance. The Eagles then had two consecutive shots blocked, then another shot by Eastern deflected off the post as they kept up the offensive pressure on LBC. Lee had another shot that missed left, then a few minutes later, the Eagles put a shot on goal to the right that Jackson made an impressive save on. Eastern kept up the pressure throughout the second half as they held LBC without a shot for 20 straight minutes, then a foul by the Chargers in the box led to a penalty kick for the Eagles, capitalizing with a strike to tie the match up at 1-1 with seven minutes to go.
Taylor Gehman (So.) had a shot on goal with three minutes remaining that was saved, then Jackson made one last save on an Eastern shot as the teams fought to a 1-1 draw in St. Davids.
