The Lancaster Bible College Men's Soccer team played their first road game of the season as they traveled to Reading, Pa. to face Alvernia, falling by a score of 3-0. The Chargers drop to 0-3 overall while the Golden Wolves improve to 2-1 overall.
How it Happened:
The Chargers had the first shot of the game as
Ruben Reyes (So.) had one blocked, then nine minutes in, Alvernia had a shot on goal that was saved by
Micah Dressler (So.). A pair of juniors in
Adan Olivar (Jr.) and
Silas Dellaperute (Jr.) each had shots in quick succession to put pressure on goal, then the Chargers stopped a corner kick chance that was followed by a shot off-target by
Riley Bills (Fr.). The Chargers fended off three more shots from Alvernia and Bills added another shot, but LBC headed into the break with a 0-0 tie on the road.
The Chargers defended two corner kicks right away in the second half, but the Golden Wolves broke through in the 61st minute with a score to get on the board 1-0 at home. After this, the Chargers fired four shots on goal within a five-minute period as Bills, Dellaperute,
Jeremy Lee (Fr.) and
Zach Coryell (Gr.) all had shots saved by the Golden Wolves' keeper. Alvernia then flipped the field quick and tacked on another goal to extend the lead, then scored a third about ten minutes later to cap a 3-0 home victory over Lancaster Bible.
