Lancaster, PA- The women's soccer team battled the elements and torrential downpour on Homecoming to get their seventh win of the season. The Chargers beat the Penn State Abington Nittany Lions in a 7-0 thrashing, Saturday.
Heavy rain, large puddles, change the fields, and the Penn State defense could not slow down the Charger offense from scoring 7 goals on the day. Freshman forward Kristina Clairmont (Dublin, PA) got the Chargers off to an early start scoring her first, of what would end up being her first hat trick of her collegiate career, just 8 minutes into the game. Lancaster pressure didn't let up and the half ended with a 4-0 advantage.
The second stanza was moved to a different field due to weather conditions, but with the similar results. The Chargers added three more goals in the half and continued to hold the Lions scoreless. Kirsten Shoemaker helped the cause with 6 saves on her way to her 6th shutout of the year.
Next, the Chargers travel to Penn State Harrisburg to take on the Lions at 4:00 on Wednesday.
