Women’s Soccer Runs with the Lions

Reading, PA- The women's soccer team found themselves in an unusual position Tuesday night, under the lights and on artificial turf for the first time this season. Despite the new conditions the Chargers were able to compete with the 6-4 Lions of Albright College.

The game was a tale of two halves. The first stanza dominated by Albright, and the second controlled by the Chargers primarily due to the superb play of freshmen Jenna Godwin (Farifax, VA), Kristina Clairmont (Dublin, PA) and Danielle Musselman (Emmaus, PA) who saw her first action of the year due to injury.

The Chargers were back on their heels for most of the first half while being out shot 10-2. The Lion's Kimberly Spataro finally put one home off a well placed corner kick in the 23rd minute. Lancaster went into halftime 2-0 after they gave up a second goal late in the half when Amy Hoelscher converted from inside the eighteen.

The Chargers appeared to wake up in the second half with good ball control but just were not able to translate their better play onto the scoreboard.  Coach Heather Gale was impressed with her team's second half performance stating after the game, “I am excited that we competed for 90 minutes and control the ball in the second half.”

Chargers will have to bounce back quickly as they host rival Philadelphia Biblical University, a possible post season matchup, on Thursday at 4:00pm.
