Women's Soccer Finishes with Authority

Lancaster, PA- Eight different players scored for the Chargers in the lop-sided 8-0 victory over Gallaudet University. The Chargers ended the regular season 10-9, tying the most wins since 2004 and first winning season for Head Coach Heather Gale.

 

The Chargers controlled play for all ninety minutes and out shot the Bison 40-3. Junior forward Meredith Wrightson (Silver Spring. MD) started Lancaster's offensive assault scoring her 7th goal on the season. Kristina Clairmont (Dublin, PA) added her 16th of the year to increase their lead to 2-0.

 

Appropriately on senior day, senior Dana Musselman (Emmaus, PA) in her last home game found the back of the net for her 3rd of the year. Rokhsan Ghaziaskar (Lancaster, PA) scored in the 44th minute to give the Chargers a 4-0 lead going into halftime.

 

The second stanza was more of the same for the Chargers, who added 4 more scores. Out of the four goal scorers for Lancaster only Jenna Godwin (Fairfax, VA) had scored a goal before Friday. Ashley Lanser (Lancaster, PA), Kaitlyn Thompson (Bedford, VA), and Alba-Nelia Vera-Alba (York, PA) all scored the first goals of their careers.

 

The lone bright spot for the Bison was goalkeeper Casey McCullough, while allowing 8 goals, faced 40 shots and had an impressive 19 saves.

 

The Chargers start post season action 3:00pm on Wednesday at Philadelphia Biblical University.
