Lancaster, PA- The women's basketball team, now 5-9, got their second home victory of the year, beating Penn State Abington 56-51. Still with eleven games to play, the win on Monday night ties the team's total for all of last season.
The Chargers started the game on fire, jumping out to 24-9 lead with 8:46 left in the first half. With the help of Nicole Karschner's (Galeton, PA) 12 first half points, Lancaster found themselves up 13, 35-22, going into the break.
Midway through the second half is when the Lions began to chip into lead. With high scorer Samantha Frick, 15 points, leading the way Penn State Abington was only down 3 with 20 seconds to go. Karschner came through in the clutch hitting both free throws to ice the game 56-51.
Karschner had a team high 15, Lacy McClaine (New Bethlehem, PA) added 11 points of her own, and Christine Maher (Westminster, MD) filled the stat sheet with 12 points, 12 rebounds, 6 assists, and 3 steals.
The Chargers are off until Saturday when they host Delaware Valley College at 1:00 PM.
