Lady Lions Defeat Chargers in Final Two Minutes

Lancaster Bible College Women's Soccer Head Coach Ken Craul knows his team is better than their record indicates. Thursday when they hosted Penn State-Harrisburg, Craul was expecting his team to perform the way they are capable of. And though the result wasn't what they wanted, the effort and play was at the level he expects game-in-and-game-out.

The Lady Lions' (7-2) Corinne Mazzotta scored with 1:07 remaining to give PSU-Harrisburg a 2-1 victory. Mazzotta assisted on the Lady Lions' first goal by Jessi Manion, scored 13 minutes into the game.

The Chargers (2-7-1) tied the game on a goal by Whitney Heise with 4:31 left in the first half. Alicia Poorman crossed the ball through the box and Heise redirected the ball past PSU-Harrisburg goalkeeper Angela Gilmore.

"I thought we looked better today than we have against other good teams," Craul said. "We have to start believing that we can play well and beat these teams and today I thought we did that."

Craul said he and Assistant Coach Susanna Sullivan challenged the team to perform at the level other teams were performing at.

"We looked at other teams' scores against who we play and realized that's where we need to be," Craul said. "We aren't as bad as our record and we need to prove that."

LBC will get their chance to prove it again on Tuesday when they travel to play King's College at 7:00 p.m.
