LBC Falls to PSU-Berks, Looks Ahead to Playoffs

The Lancaster Bible College women's soccer team wrapped up its regular season on Thursday against Penn State-Berks. The result wasn't what they had in mind.

The host Nittany Lions controlled the entire match and crushed the Chargers 8-0. Berks' Emily Simmons and Mackensy Dawson each had two goals in the rout. Goalkeeper Cassidy Dawson earned the shutout.

While the Chargers ended the regular season with consecutive losses, they refuse to let injuries be an excuse and will enter Tuesday's NCCAA East Region Semi-final against Philadelphia Biblical University with a fresh outlook.

"We are still trying to find a way to maintain a positive outlook after a long season," Charger Head Coach Ken Craul said. "We don't want to blame injuries and give up."

Craul thinks his squad has to maintain their mental toughness throughout the match.

"We start with good intentions to play as hard as we can but we become defeated at times after we give up a goal or two," Craul said.

Senior goalkeeper Kirsten Shoemaker made eight saves for the Chargers (2-13-2).

The match on Tuesday at PBU gets underway at 1:00 p.m.
