Blue Jays Spoil Chargers' Home Opener

A year ago, the Lancaster Bible College men's basketball team rushed out of the gates against Elizabethtown and held a five point lead at halftime before losing by 11. The Blue Jays made sure that didn't happen this season.

E-town (1-1) jumped out to a 10-0 lead and never trailed as they beat the Chargers 82-52 at Horst Athletic Center. Joe Flanagan led the Blue Jays with 22 points. He was 4 of 5 from the behind the ark.

Madison Warfel once again led the Chargers in scoring, chipping in with 13 points. Eric Nulf was the only other Charger in double figures with 10. As a team, the Chargers shot 33 percent from the field, while E-town shot 42 percent.

Despite the loss, Charger Head Coach Pete Beers belives his teams' tough early season schedule will benefit them down the road.

"We have to start bringing more intensity and toughness to our practices, so we are better prepared for our opponents," Beers said. "These games provide us the opportunity to see just how tough we need to be."

LBC (0-2) returns to action on Tuesday when they travel to Grantham, Pa. to take on Messiah at 7:00 p.m.
