The Chargers were led by freshman
Keith Keltner who had 15 points and four assists.
Madison Warfel added 14 points in the loss. The Chargers (1-4) had chances in the second half, but simply couldn't crawl back into the game.
"We couldn't convert on any key opportunities in the second half and it killed us," Charger Head Coach
Pete Beers said. "Ferrum missed free throws to keep us in the game and we couldn't capitalize."
Ferrum (3-4) held LBC's big three (Warfel,
Kevin Keltner and
Carl Edwards) to just 4-of-39 shooting.
"Give Ferrum credit," Beers said. "Their individual defense on Kevin and Madison was tremendous and they made it a long day for some of our shooters."
Beers felt the Chargers let the game get away from them in the first half when they shot just 27 percent.
"We had a lull in defensive intensity and simply dug too deep a hole for ourselves," Beers said.
Nick English and Jerrell Wade had 17 and 15 points respectively for the Panthers in the win. For the game, Ferrum shot 47 percent, while the Chargers shot just 28 percent.
LBC is back in action on Tuesday when they travel to face Penn State-Brandywine at 7:30 p.m.
