Lancaster, PA- After 11 innings of play the Chargers were unable to break the 7-7 tie with the Bison of Gallaudet. Lancaster refused to give up battling back from deficits in the bottom of the ninth and tenth to force extra innings.
The Chargers struggled in the first two innings lining into double plays. Designated hitter, Jake Clemenson (The Dalles, OR) got the home team rolling with a single in the third and scored along with Marcus Benner (Waldoboro, ME) on consecutive errors by the Bison. Outfielder, Steve Jacques (Norristown, PA) made the score 3-0 on a sac fly from Zachary Kraehmer (Newburgh, NY).
Ben Markey (Dallastown, PA) gave up his only earned run in the fourth to Kyle Kuschmider, but Lou Curcio (Hatfield PA) scored on an error in the bottom of the inning to increase the lead to 4-3.
The Bison scored 5 straight runs to take a 6-4 lead going into the bottom of the eighth. The Charger's Eric Hollinger (Leola, PA) led off the inning with a double, stole second base and scored from third on a base knock from third baseman Drew Tilley (Annville, PA). Tyrel Fuller (Wellsboro, PA) tied the game with the help of Curcio's SAC fly in the bottom of the ninth.
Gallaudet took back the lead, 7-6, in the top of the tenth when Jeremy Shepps scored on a SAC fly from Kyle Kushmider. Benner stepped to the plate with one out and hit a solo shot to force the 11th inning.
In the 11th, the Chargers juiced the bases with only one out. Tilley struck out swinging, and Fuller was caught stealing home on a broken play to end the game 7-7. The game was called after 11 innings due to darkness.
Chargers are back in action tomorrow against PBU at home at 3:00 PM.
