ANNVILLE, PA – Lebanon Valley College proved to be too much for visiting Lancaster Bible College to handle on Saturday. The Flying Dutchmen held the Chargers scoreless on the day winning 12-0 in the first game and 15-0 in the night cap.
In the opener, LVC starter Brian Miller was literally un-hittable. Miller did not allow a Charger base runner until the sixth inning when with two outs pinch-hitter Micah Lippy (Hanover, PA) “took one for the team” with a hit-by-pitch. The Chargers would get three more base runners in the seventh inning on two walks and another HP, but would not be able get a hit or a run before Miller recorded the last out of the ball game. Charger starter Steve Jacques (Norristown, PA), pitching in his first game of the season, went four strong innings before handing the ball over to a depleted Charger bullpen.
The second game didn't fair much better for the young Chargers. Freshman pitcher Marcus Benner (Waldoboro, ME) got his first collegiate start, but was roughed up in the first by a hard-hitting LVC squad. The Chargers would never recover. Sophomores Josh Chamberlian (Friendship, ME) and Lippy collected the only hits of the day off the Flying Dutchmen.
The Chargers continue their six-game road trip this Friday when they visit Cresson, PA for a double-header against the Mounties of Mt Aloysius. LBC will finally return home on Saturday, March 21 to play the Community College of Philadelphia in a 12pm double-header.
