Chargers Drop Double-Header

Harrisonburg, VA- Lancaster couldn't hold on to a “W” in their first game at Eastern Mennonite University falling 5-3. In the second game, the Royals came out on fire taking the Chargers 18-0.

                 

The Chargers found themselves holding a 2-1 lead going into the bottom half of the fourth inning. Lou Curcio, (Hatfield, PA) despite holding the Royals to eight hits and only two earned runs gave up a two-run homerun to Jake Norman to fall behind 4-2. Curcio helped his cause in the fifth with a solo homerun to cut into the lead 4-3. Ben Wise gave EMU an insurance run in the sixth for a 5-3 final.

 

Lancaster couldn't find their groove managing only three hits compared to 17 for the Royals. Ben Markey (Dallastown, PA) got the loss for the Chargers giving up eight hits and eight earned runs. In the Charger bullpen, Tim Blodgett had his second outing in a row pitching 2.1 innings. Micah Lippy (Hanover, PA) gave up only one hit in his first relief action of the year.

 

The Chargers look to bounce back Tuesday when they travel to Christendom for a doubleheader starting at 12:30 PM.
