Lancaster, PA- The Charger's four-run game tying rally in the bottom of the eight inning wasn't enough to knock off Ohio State Mansfield. Lancaster falls to 8-16-1 on the season with the 7-6 loss to the Mavericks Friday afternoon.
The Chargers took advantage of a pair of misques in the second to take a 2-0 lead. Karl Ferber's homerun in the sixth broke-up the no hitter for the Mavericks and opened the gates with four more runs crossing the plate in the inning.
Another Maverick homerun, this time by Shane Spies, gave the visitors a 6-2 lead entering the eighth. Lancaster didn't give up and came storming back knocking in four runs in the eighth to even up the score 6-6.
Spies hit his second homerun of the day on the first pitch on the ninth inning to give Ohio State Mansfield a 7-6 lead. The Chargers had runners in scoring position but were unable to convert for a final of 7-6.
Ben Markey (Dallastown, PA) received a no decision in his ninth start this season. Markey had a no hitter through five innings but gave up three hits during the Mavericks five run sixth inning.
The team looks to rebound Saturday at 12:00 PM when they host Wilkes University.
