Lancaster, PA- The Chargers picked up a pair of much needed wins at the expense of Williamson Trade Wednesday afternoon. In game one, Lancaster battled back from a three run deficit in the bottom of the seventh for a 6-5 win in extra innings. The Chargers took care of the Mechanics easily in the second game winning 17-5.
Lou Curcio (Hatfield, PA) had another superb performance for the Chargers in game number one. The Charger's ace had eight strikeouts and allowed four earned on seven hits in eight innings of work.
Offense was a different story for the home team, managing only three hits in the first six innings. With their backs against the wall down 5-2 in the bottom of the seventh, the Chargers were able to turn it around. Three runners crossed the plate in the inning to force an eighth inning. Marcus Benner (Waldoboro, ME) helped fuel Lancaster's rally scoring in the seventh and the winning run in the eighth on a single from Steve Jacques (Norristown, PA).
The second game was a different story, Lancaster totaled a season high 17 runs and 18 hits. Leadoff batter, Zach Kraehmer (Newburgh, NY) was perfect with three scores, three hits, and two RBI's in three at bats. Eric Hollinger (Leola, PA) and Lou Curcio weren't far behind both going 3-4 and seven RBI's between them. Ben Bewley (Lancaster, PA) picked up his first career win in relief for the Chargers.
The team is back on the road Monday against Eastern Mennonite University; first pitch is scheduled for 2:00 PM.
