Men's Soccer Wins Fourth Straight

Greiser Opens the Scoring Against the Mounties
Playing nine straight matches at home, the Lancaster Bible College men's soccer team knows it has to take advantage of this part of their schedule. While they got off to a slow start on Saturday in the rain on LBC's campus, they did what they had to do and defeated Mount Aloysius, 5-0.

The Chargers, winners of four straight, got goals from junior Kyle Zook, sophomore Lawrence Lartey, sophomore Cory Greiser, freshman Zach Kutz and sophomore Marcus Benner. Junior Kevin Keltner, freshman Ben Earhart and Kutz each added an assist for LBC (4-1).

"Today was a good win in the sloppy conditions," Head Coach Josh Beers said. "We had lots of chances in the first half, just couldn't convert any of them until the end of the half. I thought we were very solid in the second half."

Zook, who had been snake-bitten and couldn't find the back of the net all season, finally got his first of the season, much to his relief.

"It felt really good to get that first one," Zook said. "The pressure is off and I will build on this."

Kutz, who arrived on campus just over a week ago, saw his first collegiate action and had a goal and an assist.

"The guys have been great to me, both on and off the field," Kutz said. "My goal today was all because Earhart made a great run and then great pass across to me."

Game Action

With the final minutes rolling off of the clock, Charger goalkeeper Grant Lockard got to try out playing with the offense for a few minutes. Lockard, much to the joy of the fans, had the ball a few times, but couldn't convert.

"It's always fun to get minutes anywhere, but the fact that we won the game is more important to me," Lockard said. "I like to play goalkeepr and own that box better than offense, but I'll take it."

One thing Beers noted was how Mount Aloysius (0-3) played the full 90 minutes and didn't give up.

"We were in their shoes just a couple of years ago," Beers said. "I thought they did a great job today and hopefully they can take some positives away from this and their program can continue to grow like ours has."
