The Lancaster Bible College women's tennis team had fought hard and come within one point of winning in each of its first three matches. Tuesday afternoon in St. Davids, Pa., Eastern University was ready for them. The Eagles (2-2) handled the Chargers 9-0.
In the most competitive match of the day, Charger junior
Carolyn Kensinger fought back after dropping the first set to tie it at a set apiece. In the deciding tie-breaker, Kensinger raced out to an early lead but her opponent Jacquelyn Sauder roared back to tie it at 9-9. The two went back and forth before Sauder won 16-14.
"I was really proud of Kensinger today," Head Coach
Zach Freeman said. "She was down a set and we had already lost the overall match, but she kept on fighting and really played well the entire match."
The Chargers (0-4) travel to Alvernia on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
