Returning to full strength after being without key players for three straight matches, the Lancaster Bible College women's tennis team was looking to capitalize on having everyone back when they faced Susquehanna University on Thursday. The Crusaders had other ideas.
Jumping on the Chargers quickly, Susquehanna cruised to a 9-0 win over the Chargers (0-7).
Junior Roxy Ghaziaskar, back after missing three matches, made Crusader number one player Julia Lerner work for all of her points in her 6-0, 6-1 win.
"I was proud of Roxy today," Charger Head Coach
Zach Freeman said. "She never gave up and performed well."
Freeman is impressed by how much Ghaziaskar has come along in such a short amount of time.
"The fact is that she played soccer last fall and just started hitting the tennis ball around this summer," Freeman said. "Now she is our number one and is keeping up with other schools' number one players, it's remarkable."
Freshman
Kayla Scott played her first full match in more than a week after being sidelined by a wrist injury.
"Kayla battled today," Freeman said. "It didn't result in a win, but she looked like the old Kayla who is determined to get to any shot and she didn't look bothered by the wrist."
The Chargers are back in action on Tuesday when they host Goucher at 3:00 p.m.
