Chargers Sweep Tri-Match

Coming off a tough loss on Homecoming to Baptist Bible College, the Lancaster Bible College women's volleyball team knew they needed to respond well and take advantage of their upcoming schedule. Tuesday night's tri-match against Northern Virginia Community College and Washington Bible College was just what the doctor ordered. The Chargers swept each team 3-0 and moved their overall recorded to 7-10.

In their opening match, LBC defeated NVCC by scores of 25-20, 26-24, 25-11. Freshman Jenae Almas led the Chargers with 10 kills and two aces. Freshman Lauren Heliger added four kills and five aces in the three-set victory.

"I thought this was a great rebound from Saturday," LBC Head Coach Lauren Mable said. "Our moral was high and we played well."

In the nightcap, the Chargers jumped all over Washington Bible and cruised to a 25-10, 25-5, 25-12 victory.

"We played at our level the entire night and that was important," Mable said. "Our level didn't waver and we played tough."

Mable was also happy with the way the team responded to a new line-up. Because of injuries to Lauren Robertson and Amanda Prohaska, the Chargers are playing with a short bench for the time-being.

"They adjusted very well to the new line-up this evening," Mable said. "It took a little while, but it looked pretty good."

Sophomore Elissa Hunsberger led the Chargers over Washington Bible with five kills, five digs and four aces. Almas added five aces and four kills in the sweep.

LBC returns to action on Thursday when they visit Harford Community College in Bel Air, Md. at 6:00 p.m.
