Chargers Stomp Sentinels, 8-0

After being held off the score sheet for the second time in three games in Saturday's 1-0 loss at Philadelphia Biblical, the Lancaster Bible College men's soccer team took out some of its frustrations on Monday - and had some fun.

The Chargers scored four goals in the first 21 minutes and cruised to an 8-0 win against Patrick Henry on Monday at Charger Field.

Grant Lockard playing the field for only the second time this season scored twice and assisted on another goal to lead the Chargers (9-7). Zak Kraehmer and Cory Greiser each added a goal and assist for LBC.

"I was happy to get guys some minutes who don't usually play," LBC Head Coach Josh Beers said. "They work hard everyday in practice and it's awesome to see guys like Grant Lockard and Richard Westerlund contribute offensively."

Westerlund's goal was the first of his collegiate career and came in the 71st minute off a pass from Brandon Wilcox.

"Brandon made a great pass over to me and I just had to put it in," Westerlund said. "It was great to finally score. Sean [Richard's twin brother] said I wouldn't score until my junior year, so it is nice to make him eat his words."

Though Westerlund scored, he said he will be happy to return to his normal position on the defensive end of the field.

"Offense is a tough job and I think I am meant to be a defensive player," Westerlund said laughing.

Kyle Zook, Zach Kutz and Tim Carver were the other goal scorers for LBC. Back-up goalkeeper #Tim Landis, Jr.# played the second half for LBC and made two saves. The Chargers out shot Patrick Henry, 29-2 and held a 8-2 edge in corner kicks.

"We had a lot of fun today," Lockard said. "I am just happy for the guys. It was good for the team to enjoy the game and be together. It's nice that the starters who were on the bench for most of the game, be so into it."

The Chargers are off for a week because of this weekend's fall break. They will face Hood College in Fredrick, Md. at 3:00 p.m. next Tuesday.
