Chargers Dominate Mighty Macs, 8-1

Having gone down to the wire in Monday's, 5-4 win over William Paterson, the Lancaster Bible College women's tennis team decided to take care of things early on Wednesday. Winning all three doubles' matches for the second straight match, the Chargers then dominated singles as well and cruised to an 8-1 win.

Nicole Karschner, Bri Funk, Kelsey Scott and Kayla Scott each won their doubles' and singles' match. Karschner and Funk won, 8-2 at flight one doubles, while Kelsey Scott and Carolyn Kensinger won, 8-3 at flight two doubles. Kayla Scott and Becky Griffes took care of Olivia Kauffman and Liz Strauch at flight three doubles with an, 8-2 win.

"Doubles went well again," LBC Head Coach Zach Freeman said. "The doubles' teams are clicking and we are making good decisions throughout each match."

In addition to the four singles' wins mentioned above, Rachel Schmuck won for the third time in 2010 with a, 6-3, 6-3 win at flight four singles.

"We have been trying to adjust Rachel's swing and get her to use the shots she is most comfortable with," Freeman said. "Today she put everything together and played very well."

LBC (6-5) needs to win one of their final three matches to ensure the team's first .500 season.

"We have one week left in our season and it is a big one," Freeman said. "We play three good teams and I am very interested to see how the team responds. It's exciting for our program that we get to play big matches that mean something at the end of our season."

The Chargers host Baptist Bible College on Monday at 3:00 p.m. The match will be played at Linden Hall School in Lititz, Pa.
