Chargers Get Senior Day Win Over Penn State Berks, 1-0

Lancaster Bible College Men's Soccer Head Coach Josh Beers could not have drawn up a better Senior Day. Not only did the Chargers win, 1-0 over Penn State Berks, but the three most accomplished seniors all had something to do with the lone LBC goal.

Senior Kyle Zook scored eight minutes into the match off a pass from senior Kevin Keltner who gathered in fellow senior Zak Kraehmer's corner kick. LBC's defense made the goal stand as the Chargers won for the 8th time in 11 games.

"It was nice for the goal to come from a senior on senior day," Beers said. "I thought Kevin played the most complete match of his entire career today."

Despite playing yesterday, Beers was happy with the team's effort and discipline throughout the game.

"Our effort and discipline was at a good level for a longer period of time today, then it was yesterday," Beers said. "We still had our lapses today, but we did not get punished for it."

LBC goalkeeper Jarrod Bergey earned his fourth shutout of the season, making five saves.

"Jarrod is not making mistakes and is keeping us in games," Beers said. "That is all we can ask from him."

LBC captain, Kevin Keltner, admitted he was frustrated during yesterday's, 1-0 loss at Hood, but thought he and the team played much better today.

"We were all frustrated yesterday," Keltner said. "But today we picked up the intensity and as a team had more space when we each had the ball."

The Chargers (10-8) held an 18-9 to edge in shots and an 8-1 advantage in corner kicks.

LBC is back in action on Saturday when they face Marymount in Arlington, Va. at 7:30 p.m.

Notes:
-Zook's goal gives him 40 for his career, putting him alone in 5th place all-time in LBC history. He now has 103 points for his career, tying him for 4th all-time in LBC history with David Good [1989-1992].

-LBC has shutout their opponent or been shutout, each of the last seven games.
