After shooting 61 percent in the first half Monday night against Misericordia, one would think it would be difficult for the Lancaster Bible College men's basketball team to keep that clutch shooting going in the second half. As expected, it dropped - to 59 percent.
The Chargers shot 60 percent on the night, including 9-of-17 from beyond the arc, and defeated the visiting Cougars, 91-72, at Horst Athletic Center.
Madison Warfel had 20 points and nine rebounds to lead the Chargers. Senior
Carl Edwards had his third straight double-double, with 17 points and 10 rebounds.
Kevin Keltner had one of his strongest games of the season, scoring 15 points, while dishing out five assists and grabbing five rebounds.
"That was the most controlled I have seen Kevin play," Charger Head Coach
Pete Beers said. "He operated very well today and was solid in handling their press."
Keith Keltner also added 15 points as well as having six assists and three steals.
Jake Clemenson chipped in with four points, two rebounds and two steals in 16 tough minutes.
"I thought Keith played well tonight and Jake played very tough and hustled throughout," Beers said.
Misericordia (12-9,) which played Sunday [a 61-44 win over Eastern] also shot well [41 percent],but could not keep up with the Chargers' pace.
"We dictated the pace tonight and it was important that we could do that against a strong team," Beers said.
Beers said the overall team play was exactly what they have been looking for.
"We protected the ball better and our shot selection was very good," Beers said. "The team found a way to win tonight."
After playing solid basketball for much of the season, Beers said the win is something the Chargers (9-11) should be proud of.
"Tonight was a monster win for the program," Beers said.
The men will look for their tenth win of the season on Friday when they travel to Davis College.
