Chargers Start Early, Earn First Win of Season

Lancaster Bible College Head Women's Soccer Coach Ken Craul said after Wednesday's 3-1 defeat against Alvernia that his team needed to work on transitioning better and playing better defensively.

The last two days of practice must have been productive.

Using solid defense and early goals, the Chargers earned their first win of the season, defeating Penn State-Harrisburg, 3-1, in Middletown, Pa. on Saturday.

LBC sophomore Whitney Heise scored 1:30 into the game giving the Chargers their first lead of the season and their first in the last five games dating back to last season. After PSU-Harrisburg tied it in the 13th minute, junior Kristina Clarimont gave LBC the lead again with a goal in the 20th minute, her first of the season.

Junior Danielle Musselman added an insurance goal in the 58th minute off of a corner kick. Sophomore Ally Brown had her first assist of the season on the goal.

"We had great transition from defense to offense today," LBC Head Coach Ken Craul said. "Goalkeeper Emily Lloyd was solid in net and Jenna Godwin marked their best player and did a great job all day long."

The Chargers out shot the Nittany Lions 18-14, while the host team held a 10-5 edge in corner kicks.

LBC is back in action on Monday when they host Goucher College for a Labor Day game at 4:00 p.m.
