After allowing a goal eight minutes into the game it would have been hard for anyone associated with the Lancaster Bible College men's soccer program not to think, "Here we go again." The Chargers had lost four of five and had given up nine goals during their three-game losing streak.

However, the Chargers buckled down and tied the game seven minutes later on a goal from senior
Lawrence Lartey. The two teams battled back and forth for the next 18 minutes before LBC junior
Sean Westerlund collected the ball at the top of the box and shifted through a few Express defenders before scoring into the right side of the net.
"That was a nice individual effort by Sean at a great time," LBC Head Coach
Tom Ardt said. "We had started out a bit defensively because of not having Taylor [Dooley] in the line-up, but we saw what Wells was showing us and we made some adjustments."
The score remained 2-1 through halftime and though both teams had chances in the second half, no one could find the back of the net. Ardt credited
Dwight Shelly's play at midfield, a position he hasn't played this season.
"Dwight was excellent today in the midfield today," Ardt said. "Especially since he hasn't played there all season."
Ardt called the win very timely for LBC.
"It was a big win for us," Ardt said. "As a team we were a bit down and getting a win like this and converting on basically our only two really good chances is huge for us."
The Chargers are back in action on Tuesday when they host Lycoming at 4:00 p.m.
Notes:
-Both Lartey and Westerlund have three goals this season.
-Dooley did not play because of a red card he received in Wednesday's game against Baptist Bible.
-LBC is 0-4 all-time against Tuesday's opponenet, Lycoming.
