For the second straight season, the Lancaster Bible College men's soccer team opened their season with a loss to Albright. And just like last season, a close game at halftime was blown open in the second half by a deeper Lions' squad.
Albright scored three times in the second half on Thursday to defeat the Chargers, 4-0. David Folino scored his second goal of the game 53 seconds into the second half to spur the Lions' offense.
"They finished well and we lacked a bit with our individual defense," Chargers' Head Coach
Tom Ardt said. "Albright was a little more comfortable on the ball than us and it showed in the second half."
The Lions out shot the Chargers 10-5 in the second half and 18-11 for the game, though both teams had nine corner kicks.
Despite the loss, Ardt thought the team played hard, especially junior
Sean Westerlund.
"Sean was all over the field and provided good pressure on Albright's defense," Ardt said.
Ardt also said freshman
Kevin Forsyth played well before leaving with an injury to his lower thigh.
"Kevin played some good minutes tonight for us, especially it being his first collegiate game," Ardt said.
The Chargers are off until next Wednesday when they host Delaware Valley at 4 p.m.
Notes:
-LBC is now 0-4 all-time against Albright.
