Box Score The Lancaster Bible men's soccer team knew Monday night's matchup with conference-leader Penn St. Abington would be a challenging one. And for the first 45 minutes of the game, the Chargers were up to the challenge as they went into halftime tied with the Nittany Lions, 1-1.
Penn St. Abington showed just why they are still undefeated in the second half, as they exploded for three goals and turned a close game into a rout, defeating the Chargers, 4-1 at Father Judge High School in Philadelphia, Pa.
"They have a lot of skilled players who can attack," Chargers' Head Coach
Tom Ardt said. "I thought we played well in the first half and actually gave their back line some problems. But we came out a little flat in the second half and gave up some goals we would like to have back."
Chargers' freshman Brad Wilcox scored his first collegiate goal on an pass from
Miles Herron for LBC's lone goal.
"Brad did some nice things for us tonight and Miles certainly created some problems for their defense," Ardt said.
The game marked the first time the Chargers had played on turf all season long. Ardt thought the team handled it well for most of the game, but still needs to learn a few things.
"I think we adjusted to the speed of the game at times, but other times we appeared a step slow," Ardt said. "We still need to realize a few things about playing on turf and make sure we know where the ball is going."
The Chargers (1-7-2 overall, 0-4-2 NEAC) are back in action on Wednesday for a non-conference tilt with Moravian that is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
