Box Score After falling behind, 1-0 just three minutes into Saturday's game with SUNYIT, the Lancaster Bible women's soccer team woke up and scored three times in the final 26 minutes of the first half to blow past the Wildcats and win by a final of 5-3. Seniors,
Ally Brown,
Whitney Heise and
Kathryn Ritter all scored for LBC on Senior Day, while sophomore
Monica Horning added two more goals, bringing her season total to 15.
"It was great to see three seniors score on Senior Day," Chargers' Head Coach
Ken Craul said. "I'm glad we woke up after they scored so early. I think we let the pre-game stuff distract us and we have to do a better job of handling stuff like that."
Horning's second goal of the game came off a free kick from 20 yards out and made it 4-1 with 30 minutes remaining, however the Wildcats would not go away quietly and made LBC work for a full 90 minutes.
Horning added an assist to go with her two goals, bringing her season point total to 38.
"Monica made a great play on Ally's goal in the first half, running down a ball and making that great pass," Craul said. "She keeps on impressing us."
The Chargers will finish the regular season with three straight road games. LBC will face non-conference opponent Swarthmore on Monday night at 7 p.m. They will wrap-up the regular season with a game at SUNY Cobleskill on Saturday and at St. Elizabeth on Oct. 22.
Notes:
-Saturday marked just the second time in LBC women's soccer history that the Chargers have won when allowing three or more goals. They defeated Penn St. Berks on Oct. 16, 2006 by a score of 5-4.
