Chargers Close Out NEAC Play with Weekend Sweep

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 The Lancaster Bible College women's volleyball team is headed back to the North Eastern Athletic Conference playoffs.

After a perfect 3-0 NEAC Crossover Weekend, the Chargers finished with a 8-3 conference record and will most likely be the fourth seed in next month's playoffs. LBC has won four matches in a row, including three straight this weekend at the NEAC Crossover which the Chargers hosted for the first time. Below is a recap of each match.

Lancaster Bible 3, Morrisville State 0
25-13, 25-15, 25-11
Katie Coomber, Lauren Daniels and Grace Scheuerman each had six kills as LBC crushed Morrisville State, 3-0. Lauren Heliger added five kills and 11 digs as LBC improved to 6-3 in NEAC play. LBC won 17 straight points at one point during the match. The Chargers won the final 12 points of the first set and the first five points of the second set.

Lancaster Bible 3, Wells 0
25-8, 25-14, 25-21
After cruising through the first two sets, the Chargers had trouble putting away Wells in the third, but were able to do so late in the set as they won the last three points. Daniels led all players with 12 kills, while Heliger had 8 kills and 13 digs. Senior Naomi Martin had five kills as well for LBC as they clinched a spot in the NEAC playoffs with the victory.

Lancaster Bible 3, SUNYIT 0
25-17, 25-22, 26-24
LBC completed the weekend sweep by downing the Wildcats in three straight sets. Daniels had a match-high 17 kills and added seven digs and two blocks. Coomber had 10 kills for the Chargers, while Hannah Metzler had three kills, eight digs and 29 assists. Martin left the match with an injury, forcing the Chargers to adjust the lineup, something LBC Head Coach Lauren Bewley thought the Chargers did well.

"Having to adjust to a new lineup during the match is tough, but I thought we handled it well," Bewley said. "This is the first time we have gone undefeated at a NEAC Crossover and I thought the ladies played well both days."

The Chargers (14-17, 8-3 NEAC) will wrap-up their regular season on Tuesday at Bryn Athyn at 7 p.m. LBC will host the NCCAA Division II East Region Playoffs next Friday, Oct. 26. The top-seeded Chargers will host Valley Forge Christian at 2:30 p.m., while Baptist Bible and Cairn will square off at 4:30 p.m. The semi-final winners will meet in the NCCAA East Region Final at 7 p.m.
