Box Score The Lancaster Bible men's basketball team dropped its opening North Eastern Athletic Conference game on Thursday night, falling to Penn St. Harrisburg, 76-65 in Middletown, Pa. The Chargers' first half woes continued as they scored just 20 points in the opening half and trailed, 40-20 at the break.
"We didn't handle their pressure very well in the first half," Chargers' Head Coach
Marshall Tague said. "We challenged the guys at halftime to step up and I thought they played a much better second half."
Despite the score remaining basically the same until the 5:00 mark of the second half, the Chargers ability to score and create plays is something Tague thinks the team can build on, specifically for their next game, which is Saturday against NEAC foe Gallaudet.
"It will be a different style of game on Saturday, but if we can do some of the things we did well in the second half on a more consistent basis, it will only help us," Tague said.
Sophomore
Corey Leonard had a game-high 16 points and added seven rebounds. Senior
Keith Keltner, held to just one point in the first half, finished with 12 points and 10 rebounds, while
Jon Bird had 10 points and eight boards.
The aforementioned game against Gallaudet on Saturday is scheduled to tip-off at 3 p.m. at Horst Athletic Center.
