Chargers Suffer Losses to Emmanuel and Johnson

The Lancaster Bible College baseball team continued to struggle as they lost three games on Wednesday and Thursday, falling to 0-8 this season. LBC dropped a doubleheader to NCCAA Division I foe, Emmanuel College on Wednesday and fell to Johnson University on Thursday in a single nine inning game. Though the forecast says rain for tonight in Knoxville, the same two teams will look to play another nine inning game on Friday as the Chargers wrap-up their spring break trip.

Paul Greco started on the hill for LBC and after throwing two good innings, ran into trouble as the Emmanuel offense woke up and strung together back-to-back eight run innings. The Chargers scored four late runs, but it was not enough.

Micah McClay pitched a complete game for the Chargers, but once again the Chargers' bats were silent. Greco hit his first home run as a member of the Chargers, but that was the lone bright spot for LBC.

"Micah pitched well today," Chargers' Skipper Doug Yager said. "Emmanuel is a really good team and we just didn't hit."

Richard Westerlund threw 7 2/3 innings of solid ball for the Chargers, but Johnson's pitching and defense was too much.

"Johnson's starting pitcher was good and by the time we got to the bullpen it was too late," Yager said. "We will look to rebound on Friday and get into the win column."
