This Story Sounds Familiar

Game one of Saturday's doubleheader between Lancaster Bible and Keuka ended with the Chargers leaving the tying run on third base. Because of rain, game two was postponed until Tuesday and the Chargers got their second chance to win their first NEAC game.

However, for the second straight game, Keuka jumped out to an early lead and the Chargers left the tying run on base after a huge 7th inning rally. Trailing 7-2 heading into the bottom of the 7th, the Chargers once again staged a huge rally that began with two of the first three LBC batters reaching base.

With one out and runners on first and second, Drew Tilley popped up for the second out of the inning and it appeared the Chargers would go away quietly. Freshman Jake Ritchey singled to load the bases for Caleb Mayer who also singled scoring Tim Landis, Jr. from third.

With the score, 7-3 and the bases loaded, Richard Westerlund strolled to the plate and delivered a two-run single to cut the deficit to two. Westerlund advanced to second on the throw home, while Ritchey wound up on third.

After a Keuka pitching change, Paul Greco reached on an error which scored Ritchey and once again put the tying run 90-feet from home plate. Frank DiFilippo came to the plate with runners on the corners and just like Saturday, the game ended with the tying run standing on third. DiFilippo flied out to right field, ending the game and dropping the Chargers to 1-11 overall and 0-2 in NEAC play.

After two straight conference games, LBC returns to non-conference play on Wednesday as they host Penn St. York at 1 p.m. for a doubleheader.
