For the fifth straight season, the Lancaster Bible College baseball team opened the season with a loss. After falling to Dickinson in the past two season openers, the Chargers found themselves on the losing end of an 18-8 game to Eastern University.
The Eagles scored the game's first 13 runs and never looked back as they cruised to a 10-run victory. Devon Ziegenfuss drove in five runs to lead Eastern (2-2).
The Chargers (0-1) were led by Tim Landis, Jr. who had two hits and drove in three runs. Landis' three RBI's were a career-high, as were his two hits.
Kody Godsey,
Spencer Collier and
Ryan Shannon also had hits for the Chargers. Godsey and Shannon scored a run each, while
Drew Tilley added two runs scored.
LBC is back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Reading, Pa. to take on Albright at 3:30 p.m. The Chargers return home on Thursday to take on Dickinson at 3:30 p.m.
Notes:
-LBC's last opening day win came in 2007 when they defeated Gallaudet, 12-9.
-The Chargers have won just two of their last 10 opening day games.
