The one thing the Lancaster Bible College baseball team hadn't had any trouble doing all season long was hit - until Wednesday. The Chargers managed just one hit in their 10-0 loss to Toccoa Falls in the opening round of the NCCAA Division II World Series held at Prasco Park in Mason, Ohio.
McClay started on the hill as well for the Chargers and pitched well into the fifth inning when he ran into trouble after a few defensive miscues. Toccoa made LBC pay and scored six runs in the inning to open up a 9-0 lead.
"Micah pitched well for us today, just didn't get a whole lot of help," Chargers' Head Coach Doug Yager said. "He made one or two bad pitches in the fifth and they made us pay."
Though they lost a doubleheader to the Eagles earlier in the season, the Chargers felt they had a good shot to beat Toccoa prior to the game.
"The bats weren't there today and we had some costly mistakes defensively," Yager said. "We have to play better to beat a team like Toccoa."
LBC will face fourth-seeded North Central University on Thursday morning at 11 a.m. in an elimination game with the winner advancing to play Thursday night at 6 p.m.
