Box Score Wells' Wyatt Buerkle scored the game's only goal with 4:51 remaining in regulation to help the Express defeat Lancaster Bible, 1-0 on Saturday in Aurora, N.Y.
The game was an even one throughout as both teams had chances, but LBC Head Coach
Tom Ardt said Wells' attacking style finally paid off for them.
"I thought we controlled the middle of the field today, but they gave us problems on the outside and especially when they had the ball on our side of the field," Ardt said. "We have to recognize a few more things on the defensive side of the field and make sure we have everyone covered."
After a tough, 2-0 loss on Friday night to Keuka, the Chargers were hoping to start quickly against Wells and earn a split during their weekend in New York. The offensive chances were hard to come by however.
"We didn't do a whole lot offensively," Ardt said. "We played hard for the second straight game and I'm proud of that, but we need to keep generating scoring chances throughout the whole game, which is something we aren't doing right now."
Chargers' goalkeeper
Tim Landis, Jr. made five saves for the Chargers who fell to 1-6-2 overall and 0-3-2 in NEAC play.
The road doesn't get any easier for LBC as they face the NEAC's top team on Monday night in Penn St. Abington. The Nittany Lions are 6-0 overall and 4-0 in NEAC play. Ardt said he hopes the game will ignite the Chargers for the second half of their season.
"We are looking forward to Monday's matchup with the top team in the NEAC," Ardt said. "We've got to find a way to turn the corner and get some wins."
Monday's game, to be played at Father Judge High School, is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
