Box Score After a tackle in the box earned Lancaster Bible College's
Wes Smith a red card and gave Morrisville State a PK which they would convert, it looked pretty improbable that the Chargers would be able to fight their way back into the game with just 27:10 remaining.
However, after
Miles Herron's second goal of the game, a ridiculous shot from 25 yards away, cut the Mustangs' lead to one with 19:58 to play, there was hope on the field and in the stands that something might be happening. Just over five minutes later,
Richard Westerlund scored off a free kick from about the same spot as Herron and drew the Chargers even, 3-3.
LBC goalkeeper
Tim Landis, Jr. made a game-saving save with seven seconds remaining to send the game to overtime where both teams had minimal chances.
"We'll take the draw," LBC Head Coach
Tom Ardt said. "The guys battled the entire game. We started off sloppy and slow, but a nice halftime talk by assistant coach
Dave Netz spurred them on in the second."
Of his talk, Netz said, "I hope I don't have to give too many more of those."
Respond the Chargers did, scoring three times in the second half. Playing 110 minutes, Ardt was asked how the guys will respond on Saturday when they host Cazenovia at 3 p.m.
"It will be a tough challenge, but the guys are up to it," Ardt said. "We were missing two starters today and we get them back for Saturday."
