Box Score The Lancaster Bible men's basketball team won its second game of the season on Sunday, defeating Cazenovia, 60-53. The win improves the Chargers to 2-13 overall and 2-5 in NEAC play.
LBC held the Wildcats to just 20 first-half points as Cazenovia, but the Chargers didn't fare much better as they scored only 23. LBC continued to increase its lead slowly in the second half, leading at one point by 12 points midway through the second frame. Cazenovia crept back into the game thanks to a few LBC turnovers, closing the game to three points at one point, but a layup and free throw by
Dan Karl with just over a minute to play, helped the Chargers secure their second win.
"I thought we played good team defense today," Chargers' Head Coach
Marshall Tague said. "We didn't shoot the ball very well, but I think a few players really stepped up their game for us today."
One of those players was freshman
Luke Roundy who had the best game of his young career on Sunday, scoring 11 points and grabbing nine rebounds. Fellow freshman
CJ Dunston had just six points, but Tague said they were some of the biggest of the day.
"CJ hit a couple of big threes for us today," Tague said. "Along with CJ, we have seen huge improvements from Luke the last couple of weeks and today he really stepped up. I think he is starting to feel comfortable and understands what he does well."
When the Wildcats began to chip away at the Chargers' lead in the second half, Tague credited freshman
Dondre Perry's dunk with 8:23 to go as the thing that re-energized the Chargers.
"Dre had a monster dunk in the second half that gave us a little extra energy," Tague said. "I was also happy that we hit the free throws we need to down the stretch."
