Box Score Playing on the road for the first time in 2013, the Lancaster Bible men's basketball team came out of the gate cold on Wednesday night at Galladuet and the Bison took advantage and built a 17-point halftime lead and eventually won, 59-41 in Washington, D.C.
The Chargers (1-12, 1-4 NEAC) turned the ball over 17 times and though they cut the lead to single digits in the second half, simply couldn't make up the points.
"Turning the ball over 17 times in a low-scoring game where each possession is important is not going to lead to a win most of the time," Chargers' Head Coach
Marshall Tague said. "Their length, size and ability to play a tough zone caused us problems all night."
Tague said he thought the Chargers played well defensively, but because they had so many turnovers, it forced them to defend a lot more possessions than they would have liked to.
"Defensively it wasn't that bad," Tague said. "But we gave them too many possessions because of our turnovers."
Senior
Dan Karl was the only LBC player in double figures with 11. He was 4-of-6 from the floor, including 3-of-5 from beyond the arc. Fellow senior
Keith Keltner had nine points and eight rebounds. Unfortunately for the Chargers, those were the lone highlights for LBC offensively.
"We didn't shoot the ball very well for long stretches of the game and we have to be able to score more than 41 points," Tague said.
Despite their struggles, Tague said he was proud of the Chargers' fight and determination.
"The fight was there," Tague said. "We need to continue our attitude of working hard."
The Chargers return to action on Saturday when they visit Morrisville State at 3 p.m.
