Box Score The Lancaster Bible men's basketball team played a rare Sunday afternoon game, thanks to the blizzard that hit the Northeast on Friday and Saturday, and lost to St. Joseph's Brooklyn, 73-61 at Brooklyn Technical High School in Brooklyn, N.Y.
Keith Keltner led the Chargers with 15 points and six rebounds, while
Dondre Perry had 12 points and five boards. LBC (4-19) could not stop the Bears' David Louison as he had 24 points and 20 rebounds.
Louison, along with Michael Megafu who had 16 points and 15 rebounds, gave LBC trouble all game long.
"Louison and Megafu killed us on the boards and we couldn't put the ball in the basket when we needed to," Chargers' Head Coach
Marshall Tague said. "We have no excuses. We have to do a better job of doing the little things and overcoming adversity when we face it."
Some of that adversity was Mother Nature herself as the gym the game was played in has windows all around it and on a bright and sunny day like Sunday was in New York City, the gym was filled with sunlight. While that may sound like a nice atmosphere for a basketball game on a Sunday afternoon, by the time the second half started, LBC was shooting directly into the sunlight and had problems seeing the hoop for much of the second half.
"Again, no excuses, but we'll bring our sunglasses next time if we play in the afternoon," Tague joked.
Senior
Dan Karl and freshman
CJ Dunston each had 10 points for the Chargers who fell to 1-11 on the road this season.
The Chargers will have two days off prior to hosting Penn St. Abington on Wednesday night at 8 p.m. It is Senior Night and the Chargers will honor
Keith Keltner,
Dan Karl and
Caleb Graves as they play their final regular season home game in an LBC uniform.
"We have to get over today's loss and get these next two games," Tague said. "We get to celebrate our seniors on Wednesday and start a new winning streak."
Notes:
-LBC's
Corey Leonard suffered a large cut above his left eye with 20 seconds remaining in the game. Tague had no update on Leonard's status after the game other than to say it was a pretty nasty cut and was being tended to in the emergency room of a Brooklyn hospital.
