Box Score The Lancaster Bible men's basketball team led for almost the entire game on Friday night in Reading, Pa, but Penn St. Berks' furious comeback proved to be too much as the Nittany Lions overcame a 15-point halftime deficit to defeat the Chargers, 72-70.
The Chargers were led by seniors
Keith Keltner and
Dan Karl, as Keltner scored 19 points on 7-of-10 shooting and Karl added 18 points. LBC shot 49.1% from the field for the game and an astounding 64.3% [18-of-28] in the first half.
"We played well in the first half and shot the ball very well, but didn't do some of the things we did well in the first half, during the second half," LBC Head Coach
Marshall Tague said. "They killed us on the offensive glass (17-7) and got to the free throw line a lot more than us."
Jeff Schmidt led the Nittany Lions with 19 points as Berks stayed deadlocked with Penn St. Abington for the top spot in the NEAC South Division.
LBC finishes the regular season with a 4-21 overall record and a 3-11 NEAC record and now looks forward to the NCCAA East Region Final next Friday when they will host Cairn or Valley Forge Christian.
